Competition

“A flower does not think of competing to the flower next to it. It just blooms.” -Sensei Ogui

Playing with a bit of soft focus using my Lensbaby macro lenses today.  The hubster gave me some lovely flowers for my birthday and I just couldn’t stop looking at the pretty pink and white baby’s breath in the arrangement.  So….  I took its picture!

I always love when I can get different effects from slightly different angles.  A bit of grey, a bit of yellow, a bit of brown, all from the same flower position on the table but with me moving just a bit.

Not sure which combination I like best.  What do you think?

  1. Wow I really needed to read that quote!! With joining the Flying Lessons FB group a lot of ‘comparing’ thoughts have been cropping up in my mind and I just need to breathe and remember to focus on my journey, remember there is space and a place for everyone and look for the support not the competition!

    • Absolutely! Every artist has their own style, their own personality and their own message. Even if you TRY to copy someone else, it will never be the same and it will never feel the same, because it is not YOU. Embrace the journey and you will find your voice!

  3. This is the second time Iv’e encountered this quote in a few days. On a deeper note it makes me think of how women seem to be in constant competition with each other for one reason or another like we don’t want to see another succeed. On a lighter note, I love the pictures, the colors. First one is my fav. -Nizzy

  4. I am mostly drawn to the middle photo, but I’m not sure why. I think it’s because I’m focusing on a single flower and it stands out more in that background. The background on that one seems to be a different color or shade than the last one.

    • They are all a tad different- and honestly I only moved a little bit for each one. I guess that’s what struck me- a small movement makes a big difference in what we see 😉
