Sandwich bag art

If you have followed me for any time at all, you will know that I try to be a tad bit creative every day.  Stretch my mind, expand myself and get my cerebral juices flowing.

The other thing I try to do is take time to connect with my family.  This time of the year particularly challenges that ability as our family of 6 runs in all different directions to art shows and concerts and soccer games and music lessons and and and…

My third thing is that generally speaking, I like quick and easy.  I can find time for quick and easy!

A while back, I came across this flickr set posted by a friend who is an avid flickr member.  I was blown away!

Turns out that David Laferriere is a graphic designer and dad.  He too wanted to both get his creative juices flowing and do something special for his kiddos.  Well, let me tell you, he did it in spades.  You can check out his flickr interview here.

So today as my kiddos headed to various field trips, I drew some doodles on their bags.  My son packed his lunch before I could finish up and he looked at me and smiled.  “Thanks Mom.  That’s cool.”

What more could a mom want?
